PESHAWAR, May 26: Awami National Party general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has expressed his wonder over endorsement of naming the province as Khyber by Federal Minister Salim Saifullah Khan.

In a statement issued here, he said Salim Saifullah had no principles and he had always been a supporter of the rulers.

He said when the provincial assembly had passed a resolution to name the province as Pakhtunkhwa, only Saifullah brothers had opposed it.

He claimed that only recently when the Saifullah family was not in power, they were of the view that the province should be named Pakhtunistan but now they were supporting the proposal of Gen Pervez Musharraf about the province’s name.

He maintained Pakhtunkhwa was a historical name and approved through resolutions by the provincial assembly.

He said Mr Saifullah wanted to please Gen Musharraf. He said the ANP would not accept Khyber as the name of the province.—Correspondent
