SAHIWAL, May 25: A local court on Thursday ordered registration of a case against the Kassowal SHO, an ASI, a head-constable, two constables and four farmers for killing a farmer in a fake encounter.

The judge also directed to produce the FIR before court on Saturday (tomorrow).

Petitioner Saeed Ahmed, the deceased’s uncle, alleged that SHO Qazi Abdul Basit along with a police party and opponents of deceased Muhammad Shafiq had come to a kiln at Chak 6/14-L on May 3. After arresting Muhammad Shafiq, the SHO took him to Chak 5/14-L. Later, the SHO, ASI Ijaz Ahmed, head-constable Zahid Iqbal and constables — Muhammad Ilyas and Allah Ditta and four farmers blind-folded, hand-cuffed Muhammad Shafiq and then shot him dead.
