GUJRANWALA, May 25: The local anti-terrorism court No.1 on Thursday took a serious notice of appearance of accused sub-inspector in uniform and got him handcuffed.
Reports said one Nazir Ahmad of cantonment had filed a petition, stating that SI Altaf Gondal injured his son Irfan in a ‘fake encounter’ and threatened him with dire consequences.
The court summoned Mr Gondal time and again but he could not appear. At last, the court issued non-bailable warrants for him and ordered police to get him produced after arresting him. Judge Mujahid Mustaqim got the SI handcuffed for appearing in the court in uniform. Later, he appeared in civvies and apologised. The judge pardoned him and adjourned the case till May 31.

He said development projects in urban and rural areas would be completed under the chief minister’s package.
District Nazim Fiaz Chattha and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
EXONERATED: Police officials involved in the rape of two sisters were exonerated by the inquiry officer in his report submitted to the district police officer here on Thursday.
Satellite Town police arrested ‘N’ and ‘S’ in a dacoity case. They were raped allegedly by seven people, including the investigation officer, at the police station and later sent to jail on judicial remand.
Both the sisters apprised the court of the incident, and the court ordered their medical check-up by DHQ Hospital medical officers. The doctors confirmed that they had been criminally assaulted and that they were not habitual.
DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq ordered a probe into the incident and appointed SP headquarters Shaikh Mohammad Siddiq as inquiry officer who recorded statements of the victims in the jail and the police officials in his office.
In his report submitted to the DPO, the SP declared all police officials innocent.
