One Israeli soldier killed, 11 injured in Gaza City: report

One Israeli soldier has been killed and at least 11 seriously injured in battles with Palestinian fighters in Gaza City, Al Jazeera reports, citing Israeli media.

The Israeli army said it is searching for four missing soldiers.

The Israeli troops were ambushed by Hamas fighters in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, according to reports.

Helicopters were sent by the Israeli army to evacuate the soldiers under heavy fire.
