ISLAMABAD, May 21: The World Food Programme (WFP) organised a walk here on Sunday to raise awareness about child hunger.

Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Raza Hayat Hiraj led the walk along with other personalities including TV, film and sports celebrities.

Talking to the participants of the walk, the minister said the presence of 300 million chronically hungry children in the world was morally unacceptable.

“We are here today to say to policymakers worldwide that ending child hunger is not a question of wallet, it is in fact a question of will,” he added.

He said the Pakistan government was committed to protecting the right of every citizen of the country.

He said efforts were being made to control poverty and improve literacy rate, besides provision of all basic facilities to the common man.

Mr Hiraj said the government would fully support the worldwide awareness campaign on child hunger.

He appreciated the efforts of WFP towards educating the masses on concerning issue of child hunger.—Our Reporter
