TIMERGARA, May 21: The All Teacher Association (ATA) of Dir Lower has threatened to observe a three-day hunger strike in Islamabad from May 31 to June 2 if the government does not accept their demands.

The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held at Timergara Rest-House on Sunday. The meeting was attended by ATA leaders Khaliqur Rehman, Faridullah Khan, Muzamil Khan Tarnabi, Alamzeb Khan, Muhammad Iqbal, Ghaniur Rehman Karwan and Rehmat Zeb.

They said teachers wanted the government to increase their salaries keeping in view persistent inflation and upgrade their pay scales.

Later, the teachers held a walk which started from the Timergara Rest-House to the Gorgori Chowk. They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans favouring their demands.
