RAWALPINDI: On directives of the Punjab government, the district administration began work to improve the condition of union councils, while starting beautification.

As per the plan, a few union councils will be turned into models and later be implemented in all the union councils of the district.

An important meeting regarding the establishment of model union councils and the beautification of Rawalpindi city was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Rawalpindi. The meeting was jointly chaired by former Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb and Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Hassan Tariq, Managing Director Wasa Saleem Ashraf, officials from the municipal corporation, public health engineering, local government, and representatives of other relevant departments.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the establishment of model union councils, removal of tangled overhead wires of Wapda, Sui Gas and PTCL, elimination of encroachments, and the overall plan for the city’s beautification.

MNA Tahira Aurangzeb emphasised that all obstacles hindering the beautification of the city must be removed immediately, and practical steps should be taken to ensure the quality of work meets international standards.
