No syringes in BHUs, RHCs

Published May 20, 2006

DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 19: Syringes are not available at BHUs and RHCs since long while use of used syringes has been increasing. Despite repeated demands by doctors, district council members and public neither district nazim nor EDO (health) paid attention to the problem. The district health services department has not supplied syringes to BHUs and RHCs.

The doctors and dispensers are constrained to handle emergencies with used boiled syringes which are highly dangerous practice.

When contacted, district health officer Dr Sultan Bughlani Leghari refused to comment on the situation and asked to contact EDO (health) Faiz Jaskani because “he is competent to give information.”

However, Mr Jaskani could not be contacted for comments.
