Mr Rasul’s appointment is for a three-year term, with an initial review after the first year to ensure continued alignment with the college’s objectives, said a JPMC spokesperson in a statement issued on Friday.

In his new role, he will work closely with the Pakistan Advisory Group, contributing to the college’s mission of enhancing professional standards, fostering collaboration, and supporting healthcare professionals across the region.

John Scott, international director & vice president at the RCPS, welcomed the appointment, stating: “His [Prof Rasul] expertise, dedication and commitment to healthcare advancement will be invaluable in strengthening our presence and impact in Pakistan.”

Commenting on his appointment, Prof Shahid Rasul said: “It is an honour to represent the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Pakistan. I look forward to working with colleagues to promote excellence in medical practice and to foster opportunities for professional growth.”
