SUKKUR: The second of the three mega musical shows planned by Sindh government to celebrate Marka-i-Haq and the 78th Independence Day was held at Jinnah Municipal Stadium on Sunday, drawing huge crowds of enthusiastic youth.

The event’s star performer, internationally renowned artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, won hearts of the audience while Asim Azhar, Bilal Saeed, Havi, Young Stunners and Shaina Ali gave mesmerising performance.

The stadium echoed with patriotic chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” and slogans in support of Pakistan Army as the audience waved national flags in a display of selfless love for the country.

The event’s lead organiser, Ahmad Shah, who is president of Arts Council of Pakistan, lauded the spirit of Sukkur citizens, calling their passion remarkable and praising the city’s consistent role in promoting cultural activities.

He said that the first of mega musical events had been held in Hyderabad and the third and last would take place at Karachi’s National Stadium on Aug 13. “The Pakistan Army has defeated many times larger enemy, raising our nation’s pride to the highest level,” he said.

Sindh Minister for Energy Nasir Hussain Shah called people of Sukkur “patriotic and cultured,” Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh hailed Pakistan Army’s global recognition and expressed confidence in the city’s youth to make Pakistan proud.

District Council chairman Syed Kumail Haider Shah called Sukkur residents ambassadors of peace and love.

The event concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display, illuminating the night sky with colorful lights and marking the occasion a historic celebration of the nation’s independence.

The event was also attended by Pakistan Peoples Party’s senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah and other dignitaries.

APP adds: A big rally was orga­nised in Sukkur on Monday as part of ongoing celebrations orga­nised by the government for Inde­pendence Day and Marka-i-Haq.

Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Islam Sheikh said at the event at Jinnah Municipal Stadium that the rally had sent a clear message to the world that Pakistani nation stood united, strong and determined.

He gave credit to Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto- Zardari for successfully presenting Pakistan’s stance on the diplomatic front.

He highlighted the country’s diversity and said different cultures, languages and religions coexisted in harmony.
