Blasts in Khar

KHAR, May 18: Two sepoys of Bajaur Levies and a tehsildar were injured when two bombs exploded in Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur Agency.

Witnesses and official sources told Dawn that a time bomb, planted near the official residence of the head of the levies, a subedar major, exploded on Wednesday night.

After the explosion, Tehsildar Khar Mir Zaman Khan and the two sepoys, Aslat Khan and Gulab, were inspecting the site when another bomb planted nearby exploded, injuring the three and a local tribesman.

Officials said that there was a 15-minute gap between the two explosions, adding that all the injured where taken to the agency headquarters hospital where they were said to be out of danger.

The officials said that so far no one had accepted responsibility for the blasts and no arrests had been made till Thursday evening.
