HARIPUR: A newly-married woman fell victim to family’s honour in the urban limits of Haripur, police said here on Saturday.

The two accused escaped after committing the broad daylight murder of their sister, the police said.

TIP police quoted a resident of Mohallah Roshan Abad as saying that he married the woman, 25, a resident of Gandiyan village, in the local court about a month back and started living with his wife in his parents’ home.

On Saturday afternoon, he said he was out of home when his wife’s brothers entered his home and opened fire on their sister with pistols, killing her on the spot.

The complainant termed the murder of his wife as honour killing.

The police registered a murder case against two brothers, but none of them could be arrested.
