MOHMAND: A joint monsoon plantation and seed ball campaign was launched on Nahqi Mountain in Mohmand here on Wednesday, organised by the local welfare group Lead Welfare Organisation in collaboration with the local residents of the area.

The initiative aims to make barren hills green and to combat the effects of climate change. As part of the campaign, seed balls containing various plant seeds were scattered across the mountain slopes and saplings were also planted in Nahqi Park.

The local community members actively participated in the activity, contributing to environmental sustainability efforts. Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the Lead Welfare Organization (LWO) Malik Gulab Sher, along with local elders Malik Ismail Khan, Rawesh Gul, Rasheed Safi, and others emphasised the importance of such initiatives.

They stated that a large portion of District Mohmand consisted of mountains, but lack forest cover.

Through community-driven seed dispersal, trees can be grown in these areas, to make the environment greener and healthier. The elders stressed that this effort was not just about planting trees, but also about sending a positive message to the community that the local people could take the lead in improving their surroundings and preparing a cleaner, greener environment for future generations.
