KARACHI: A young man was gunned down in a suspected targeted attack in the Landhi area early on Wednesday morning, police said.

Area SHO Rizwan Patel said 26-year-old Fazeel Qureshi was sitting outside his home near Timber Market when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire and rode away. Fazeel sustained eight bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

The victim had a past criminal record and there were several cases registered against him. He had been associated with different political parties in the past.

The SHO said the murder appeared to be the result of personal enmity. However, police were waiting for the victim’s family to lodge an FIR before initiating formal legal proceedings.
