LAHORE: The Punjab government is considering a proposal for inclusion of service ducts in major road construction projects to minimise repeated road excavations in Lahore and other cities.
According to a spokesperson for the housing, urban development and public health engineering department, a special committee will soon be formed to consult with all relevant stakeholders, including the Safe Cities Authority and telecommunications departments to determine the appropriate size and placement of service ducts to ensure their effective use in the future.
He said since the repeated digging of roads causes significant inconvenience to the public, the construction service ducts will not only help conserve resources but also lead to longer-lasting roads and improved urban infrastructure.
The official said the development initiatives across Punjab are progressing rapidly, with a focus on long-term impact and resilience. Meanwhile, planning is being carried out in line with environmentally friendly policies to ensure sustainable, well-organised, and citizen-centric development across the province.
SEALED: Various teams of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) town planning wings sealed on Monday as many as 150 properties on account of non-payment of commercialisation fee and other violations, according to a spokesman.
