KOHAT: The commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Motasim Billah Shah, has expressed dismay over the delay in the completion of gas distribution pipelines project in the cantonment area.

He was chairing a meeting at his office the other day, which beside others, was also attended by the additional deputy commissioner (G) Hamid Iqbal, chief executive officer, Kohat cantonment board, in-charge SNGPL, superintendent of police Kohat and officials of the C&W department.

The meeting decided that all necessary requirements would be met to complete the project as per the specified standard and quality.

It was further decided that a monitoring committee consisting of the relevant technical personnel of the cantonment board, SNGPL, district administration and C&W department would keep an eye on the project, particularly its quality at all costs.

The commissioner added that there should be no further delay in the project.

CRACKDOWN AGAINST DRUG SELLERS: A crackdown has been launched against elements selling drugs to students in and around educational institutions.

The regional police officer (RPO), Abbas Majeeed Marwat, said in a statement on Saturday that special teams had been constituted in Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Orakzai, and Kurram districts, which would keep a strict watch on the activities of students and suspicious people roaming around the schools, colleges and universities.

Later, the RPO told journalists that the large-scale operations would be decisive in nature and no leniency would be shown to the sellers of ‘death’ to the youth.

Meanwhile, a police rehabilitation centre has also been established for the young addicts who were arrested as drugs, especially ice was recovered from them.

The centre has been set up to keep the young addicts away from the jail where criminals and drug smugglers are kept.
