LAHORE: Pakistan will feature in a Twenty20 International tri-series involving Afghanistan and the the United Arab Emirates as a tune-up for next month’s Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Friday.

“The tri-series will feature teams from Pakistan, Afgh­a­n­istan and the UAE from Aug 29 to Sept 7 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium,” the PCB said, adding that it is being organised to help the teams prepare for the eight-team Asia Cup to be held in the same country from Sept 9 to 28.

The opening match of the tri-series tournament will be played between Afghanistan and Pakistan on Aug 29, with the first ball to be bowled at 7pm local time.

Each team will play the others twice, giving all sides at least four matches before the top two teams qualify for the final.

Tournament schedule:

Aug 29: Afghanistan v Pakistan

Aug 30: UAE v Pakistan

Sept 1: UAE v Afghanistan

Sept 2: Pakistan v Afghanistan

Sept 4: Pakistan v UAE

Sept 5: Afghanistan v UAE

Sept 7: Final.
