BAHAWALPUR: Two police officials, including an SHO, were suspended from service on charges of corruption and inefficiency in Vehari district on Sunday.

DPO Muhammad Afzal, after receiving complaints of corruption against Miranpur police SHO Zubair Lodhi and investigating officer ASI Zahid, suspended them with immediate effect.

As per the complaints, both officials had allegedly received bribe to give favour to accused Irshad and his accomplices who were charged of torturing and kidnapping one Asim.

He said the two officials inserted minor offences instead of charges of abduction and torture in the FIR to allegedly save the suspects.

The DPO also ordered to register cases against them in which they were yet to be arrested.
