ZAHEDAN: Three terrorists among nine were killed and as many as 22 sustained injuries during an attack on a courthouse in Zahedan, the capital of the Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran on Saturday, in what state media described as a strike by a Jaish al-Adl Baluch militant group.

A toddler, a 60-year-old woman and three security personnel were among those killed.

The attackers wore explosive vests and carried grenades, a judiciary official said.

According to Alireza Daliri, deputy police commander of Sistan-Baluchistan province, the assailants threw a grenade into the building, killing several people inside. Three of the terrorists have been killed, according to the announcement of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards.

The Jaish al-Adl Baluch group claimed responsibility, saying it targeted judges for issuing “death sentences and house demolition orders to Baluch citizens. We warn all judges and employees of the judiciary that Baluchestan will no longer be a safe place for them.”
