GUJRANWALA: The owner of a veterinary medicines store was arrested allegedly after the death of at least five cattle heads who were administered injections purchased from the shop near Pandori Kalan village, Alipur Chatha, on Thursday.

According to reports, Muqaddas Chattha, a local farmer and livestock owner, procured veterinary injections from a store to treat his ailing buffalo calves.

As soon as the animals were administered the injections, five of them died, while others fell sick. The affected farmer alleged that the injections had passed their expiry date, resulting in the death of his animals. He said that the remaining cattle heads are under treatment.

Following a complaint lodged by the affected farmer, Alipur Chattha police arrested the owner of the medical store.

Investigation into the matter is underway.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the regulation and monitoring of veterinary medicines in rural areas.

MAN DIES: A man died when the roof of a cattle pen, where he was asleep, collapsed on himat Nokharmandi, Nowshera Virkan, during the heavy rainfall on Thursday.

A torrential monsoon rain spell caused widespread destruction in Nowshera Virkan and its surrounding areas.

According to local sources, Mustansar Hussain was asleep inside his cattle shed when its dilapidated roof, weakened by the relentless downpour, caved in.

On knowing about the incident, locals rushed to the scene and removed the debris on a self-help basis. Unfortunately, by the time they found Hussain, he had already succumbed to his injuries.
