THATTA / BADIN / MIRPURKHAS: Parts of Thatta and Badin districts received a brief but heavy spell of rainfall while Mirpurkhas district received a moderate spell on Saturday.

Although the rain caused flooding of roads and streets and also widespread power breakdown, it turned the otherwise hot and humid weather conditions pleasant.

The cities and towns that received a considerably big amount of rain in a 20/25-minute spell between 2pm and 3pm included Thatta, Makli, Sujawal and Jhimpir alongside their surrounding villages in Thatta district. Many towns and villages in Badin and Mirpurkhas districts were also pounded.

While settlements in low-lying areas of all the three districts were inundated forcing people to rush indoors, the highways, main roads and streets were also flooded causing vehicular traffic to go off the road.

Most rain-hit areas experienced hours-long power outage.
