CHARSADDA: An accused suspected to be involved in the murder of a constable was killed when he tried to snatch a gun from a policeman in Charsadda on Saturday.
According to sources, the accused had stabbed Peshawar police constable Hamidullah to death on June 18. A case was registered against him and he was arrested.
According to the report filed by SHO Tangi Bismillah Jan, the accused was remanded in police custody for six days by the anti-terrorism court.
The accused, Ayaz, after having confessed the crime, led the police to collect the murder weapon, a knife, which was recovered from the mausoleum of Nek Sahib, where he had hid it.
Upon recovery of the knife, the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” and attacked assistant sub-inspector Musa Khan in an attempt to snatch his rifle. During the struggle for the weapon, the suspect was shot and died on the spot.
According to a police spokesperson, intelligence reports revealed that the suspect had received training from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
