LAHORE, March 15: PPP and PML-N leaders on Monday congratulated the nation for the Charter of Democracy, saying it would stabilise the system in the times ahead. At a joint news conference, they said the charter was the first most important document adopted after the 1973 Constitution.

Munir Ahmad, Khalid Kharal, Zaeem Qadri and Pervaiz Malik addressed the news conference.

Mr Munir, who is also deputy information secretary of the ARD, said the two parties had committed themselves to changing the procedure for appointments against various key posts. Now, he said, the process of accountability would improve and the judiciary would get more independence.—Staff Reporter
