LAHORE: Actor and model Humaira Asghar was laid to rest at Q Block graveyard in Model Town where her funeral prayers were held on Friday.

The funeral prayers were attended by the area people and her family members and no prominent faces from visual or performing arts could be seen there.

Humaira’s brother had received her body from Karachi the previous day. The body was brought to Lahore from Karachi via an ambulance, accompanied by her brother, brother-in-law and other relatives.

On July 8, Humaira’s body was found in a flat in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6. She had been living in a rented flat after moving from Lahore to Karachi since 2018.

Besides being a theatre, film and TV artist, Humera was also a visual artist who studied at Punjab University’s Fine Arts Department and did BFA in painting. During her university days, she had interaction with theatre groups such as Natak, led by Dr Ahmed Bilal, which was a university-based theatre group consisting of students.

She had interactions with Amjad Islam Amjad, Qavi Khan and other senior actors who used to visit the university for lectures. In her early years of performing art, she did about four or five Pakistan television plays. She also extensively did socially relevant and objective theatre those days.

The glitz and glamour world is still in shock at the tragic demise of Humera Asghar. She was also known for her roles in the popular reality show Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee.
