LAHORE, May 14: A 10-year-old girl lost her life after her throat was cut by kite string on Ferozepur Road in Ichhra on Sunday. A resident of Muhammad Nagar, Qila Gujjar Singh, Sardar, a building contractor, told police that he together with his wife and daughter Aqsa, 10, visited a relative at Chungi Amar Sadhu. On return, he said his daughter asked him to take her to Shahdara to see a maternal uncle. He said Aqsa was sitting on the fuel tank of his motorcycle when kite string cut her neck. He said the motorbike skidded off the road and they fell down. He said his daughter had died when he picked her up.

“I was so helpless. I could not even take my daughter to hospital,” he told reporters at his house. He asked the government to take action against violators of the kite-flying ban. — Staff Reporter
