TAXILA: One person was killed while 21 others were injured in three separate incidents in Taxila and various parts of Attock on Wednesday, police and rescue sources said.

In the first incident, a man was killed and his two sons sustained serious injuries when a speeding dumper, driven by an unknown driver, rammed into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction near the Raisi water channel in the jurisdiction of Jand police station.

Police sources said that Saeed, along with his sons Hamyun and Shehryar, was riding his motorcycle when the dumper hit them.

As a result, Saeed died on the spot, while his two sons were critically injured.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to the Jand Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Separately, at least 17 people were injured when a passenger coaster skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine near Sangjani on Motorway M-1, reportedly due to slippery conditions caused by rain.

According to Rescue 1122, the incident occurred between Brahma and Sangjani in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station, when the vehicle lost control during rainfall and fell into a ditch.

Rescue teams reached the site promptly and administered first aid to the injured passengers. Authorities confirmed that the injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad and Wah General Hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by a slippery road surface due to rain. The relevant authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the incident.

Moreover, two persons were injured when a collision occurred between a high-speed dumper and a rickshaw on Dandi Road in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb police station.

The injured were shifted to the Pindigheb Tehsil Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122. The respective police stations registered separate cases and launched further investigations.
