CHITRAL: The district heads of various political parties in Chitral have demanded of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Team Chairman Brig Muzaffar Khalid Ranjha to ensure the completion of the road projects being executed by National Highway Authority as they are facing inordinate delay.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Friday, Eng Fazle Rabbi Jan of PPP, Abdul Wali Khan Advocate of PML-N, Wajeehuddin of JI, Maulana Abdul Shakoor of JUI-F, Haji Eidul Hussain of ANP and former provincial minister Saleem Khan said that they were united for the collective development of Chitral.

They said that on the intervention of Mr Ranjha during his visit to Chitral last week, work on the road projects of Shandur and Lowari tunnel’s approach road had been accelerated, but the pace of work had again been slowed down.

The leaders termed the dilapidated condition of the roads in Chitral as the first and foremost problem of the people, adversely affecting all other sectors of development, especially tourism.

They castigated the PTI’s provincial government for ‘neglecting’ Chitral in development process by sanctioning no new scheme in the fiscal year 2025-26.

They said that if PTI MNA Abdul Latif was de-seated due to his conviction, all the other political parties will field a joint candidate for the by-election.
