TAXILA: A team of district emergency response unit rescued a 45-year-old man trapped in flood waters in Haro River near Attock on Wednesday.
According to details, the man was grazing sheep on green and dry patch of Haro River when a sudden surge in the river water wept the herdsman away but he took shelter under the pillars of a railway bridge located on Attock- Jand track. Seeing the man in a helpless condition, some other people present there made a SoS call to district emergency office Attock.
On receiving the emergency alert, teams from Rescue 1122 promptly reached the site rescued the man from the powerful current.
Suspect killed in encounter
Another suspect was killed in an encounter in Rakhwan area in the limits of Injra Police station limits on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesman the suspect was injured by his three accomplices during an exchange of fire. Soon after the incident, senior police officers also rushed to the spot. The suspect was shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital for treatment.
A case was registered on behalf of the state. However, no police official was injured in the firing incident. The police spokesman said that the police team was on patrol in the area when two persons riding on a motorcycle was spotted in suspicious condition and when they were signaled to stop, they resorted to firing which was retaliated and after brief chase they were intercepted and found one suspect in injured condition.
