CHITRAL: After the Supreme Court decision regarding the reserved seats of National and provincial assemblies, rendering Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf ineligible, Chitral gets three more MPAs and one MNA, who had been nominated by different political parties.

Ghazala Anjum from Koghuzi village of Lower Chitral was the nominee of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for the reserved seat for women in the National Assembly, who had been suspended after taking oath.

With the latest decision, she stands restored as MNA and becomes the first-ever woman member of the upper house of the parliament from Chitral.

In the provincial assembly, Khadija Bibi was nominated as the first priority of Awami National Party, who is also the vice-president of the party in the provincial hierarchy, and had contested the election from Chitral for general seat.

Earlier, she had contested the election of chairman of Drosh tehsil in the last local government polls from the platform of ANP and bagged third position.

Arifa Bibi was the nominee of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl for the provincial assembly and hails from Jughoor village of Chitral town, whose family has long-term association with the party.

Nilofar Baber was nominated by Pakistan Peoples Party for the provincial assembly on women quota and is the daughter of the party’s stalwart from Chitral Begum Shahzada Sulaiman, who has remained a member of party’s central executive committee and a close associate of late Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
