Taiwan rout hapless Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 12: Pakistan's dismal run at the Junior Fed Cup continued on Thursday with Taiwan routing them 3-0 in the tournament being held in Thailand.

The defeat coming on the heels of humiliating losses to Japan, Korea and Sri Lanka, left the Pakistani girls vying for positions 13 to 16.

Chiao-Fan Lo walloped Aamna Hameed 6-1, 6-0 and then Mu-Ying Chen crushed Pakistan No 1 Sarah Mahboob 6-1, 6-2 in the other singles.

Later Chiao-Fan and Yi-Ju Chen teamed up to complete the flogging with a straight forward 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Aamna and Quratul Ain.

Pakistan, who were playing Philippines on Friday, had won only one set in the first four matches of the tournament. That bit was done by Aamna who took a set off Sri Lankan Jithme Jayawickerma on Wednesday.

Results: Chinese Taipe bt Pakistan 3-0 (Chiao-Fan Lo bt Aamna Hameed 6-1, 6-0, Mu-Ying Chen bt Sarah Mahboob 6-1, 6-2, Chiao-Fan Lo & Yi-Ju Chen bt Aamna Hameed & Quratual Ain 6-1, 6-1)
