KUCHING: Pakistan’s squash duo of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal secured the silver medal at the second Asian Doubles Squash Championships here at the Arena Emas after losing the men’s final to India on Thursday.

The Pakistani pair started strongly, taking the first game 11-9 against the defending champions. However, the Indian duo of Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar rallied to win the next two games 11-5, 11-5, clinching the title 2-1 after 88 minutes.

Pakistan had advanced to the final by defeating hosts Malaysia in the semi-finals.

The Indian team also won the mixed doubles and women’s doubles titles.

The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) issued a statement lauding the performance of Noor and Nasir and congratulated them on winning the silver medal.
