KARACHI: A teenage mother was allegedly killed by her husband and father in Gulshan-i-Maymar in the name of ‘honour’, police said on Monday.

They added that Aram Bibi, 17, was beaten to death by her husband, Mohammed Afghani, her father, Yaseen, and others at a refugee camp near Afghan Chowk.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed told Dawn that there were injury marks on her face and “ligature marks” on her neck.

Dr Syed said the cause of death had been reserved pending the chemical analysis report. It was definitely not a suicide case, she clarified.

Gulshan-i-Maymar SHO Abdul Ghaffar Korai told Dawn that during the initial probe, it transpired that she was killed over a family dispute, but he did not elaborate on its exact nature.
