Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has told the UN Security Council that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) echoed the “same calls” for de-escalation during its Council of Foreign Ministers meeting on Sunday.
“Pakistan’s leadership, including the deputy PM, has remained actively engaged in promoting [its] objectives through numerous and continuing contacts with other leaders and our partners, all in the name of preserving international peace and security, and in fulfilment of our responsibility as a member of the Security Council,” he stated.
“The OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers echoed the same call: to end aggression, supporting de-escalation and a peaceful settlement. It is in this context that we are seriously concerned by the recent developments that have further heightened tensions.”
