China strongly condemns the US attack on Iran and on nuclear facilities supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Chinese foreign ministry has said, according to Reuters.

“The actions of the US seriously violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, and have exacerbated tensions in the Middle East,” the ministry said in a statement.

It urged parties to the conflict, especially Israel, to cease attacks as soon as possible and begin dialogue and negotiations, the ministry said.

“China stands ready to work with the international community to pool efforts together and uphold justice, and work for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.”
