Mian Azhar’s denial

Published May 12, 2006

LAHORE, May 11: Former PML president Mian Azhar says he has never been associated with the Pattoki sugar mills, as reported in Dawn on Thursday.

In a statement issued here, Mian Azhar said his brother held the ownership of the mill for a brief period and sold his shares to a chemical company in 2001.

“I fully and unequivocally condemn the alleged hoarding of sugar stocks committed by the mill owners and demand that governmental action be taken against those who are responsible for the steep escalation in the price of sugar,” he concluded.
