GUJRANWALA: An addict killed one of his minor daughters and injured two others on Friday in Bharoki Cheema village.

According to police, suspect Amjad was consuming narcotics in a room of his house when his daughters entered despite being told not to.

Enraged, the man allegedly picked up a wooden rod and began to beat the girls mercilessly.

Seven-year-old Zainab succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while her 12-year-old sister Maham and three-year-old Jannat sustained severe injuries.

Neighbours alerted the police, who took the suspect into custody.

The injured girls were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused.

Residents of the area said the man had long been addicted to ice and had displayed violent behaviour in the past.

The girls’ mother, who was not at home at the time of the incident, said she returned to find her husband beating their daughters.

The children’s maternal uncle has demanded a strict legal action against the accused.

Police officials said the investigation is underway and that the suspect will be presented in court after the completion of initial proceedings.
