Beheaded body found in Bajaur

PESHAWAR, May 11: Suspected pro-Taliban militants beheaded a man in restive Bajaur, bordering Afghanistan’s Kunar province, officials said on Thursday.

The killers took away the man’s head and shoes before dumping it in a ditch late on Wednesday.

The body could not be identified and was buried, said the official, adding that the deceased might be an Afghan.

It was the first such killing in Bajaur, but several tribesmen have been beheaded by militants on the suspicion of being US spies in Waziristan.

In another incident, two children were seriously injured in a landmine blast late on Wednesday in the same area and were taken to a hospital in Khar, the official said.—AFP
