PESHAWAR, May 11: The city police have decided to launch an awareness campaign with the use of modern technology to help curb increasing incidents of mobile phone snatching.

Stolen mobile phones will be identified with the help of specific codes under the new system.

According to the notification of the city police issued here on Thursday, the capital police have launched an awareness campaign to help combat the rising incidents of cell-phone snatching.

Mobile-phone owners will be using the latest IT technology to detect the snatcher.

According to the new technology mobile sets will carry the number IMEI on the battery and the same number will appear on dialing #06#.

He urged mobile phone users to note down the number and use it so that the thief could be caught.—APP
