KOHAT: A young soldier, who was martyred in South Waziristan, was laid to rest in the Doli village of Lachi tehsil here on Tuesday.

Umer Gul, 20, was serving in the Frontier Constabulary. He was martyred when terrorists attacked a patrolling party on Monday night. His body was brought to Kohat on Tuesday.

His funeral prayers were attended by officials of FC, army, local elders and relatives. He was given a gun salute by a contingent of army.

His father was presented with his son’s uniform wrapped in the Pakistani flag. Floral wreaths were also laid on his grave.

Meanwhile, an assistant sub-inspector of Teri police station of Karak was arrested for killing a six-year-old boy on Tuesday. ASI Hakeem Khan reportedly opened fire on a car at a barricade, and as a result, a child was killed on Tuesday.

The accused was presented in a local court, which remanded him in police custody for four days for preliminary interrogations.

Earlier, an FIR was registered against him under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Mohammad Saqib, father of the deceased, Mohammad Awais Karni.
