RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has allocated Rs150 billion for different projects of Rawalpindi in the annual development programme for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The Mall Signal Free Project will also include construction of underpasses at Race Course, Chairing Cross, army graveyard, Kutchery Chowk, Iftikhar Janjua Road and Jinnah Park, Ammar Chowk flyovers.

The cost of Race Course underpass will be Rs2.6 billion, Chairing Cross underpass Rs1.5 billion and Rs54 million have been allocated for these projects. The cost of the army graveyard Chowk underpass is Rs1.9 billion and Rs68 million will be released in the fiscal year.

The cost of the Kutchery Chowk underpass and widening project is Rs4.450 billion while Rs160 million have been allocated. The cost of the Iftikhar Janjua Road underpass is Rs1.930 billion while Rs69 million have been set aside for it. For the Jinnah Park flyover worth Rs4.150 billion, Rs149 million have been allocated.

The cost of the Ammar Chowk flyover is Rs3.450 billion while Rs124 million have been allocated. The cost of the COD Chowk Range Road underpass is Rs3.750 billion for which Rs135 million have been set aside. The cost of the Tulsa Road Adiala underpass is Rs1.690 billion while Rs61 million have been allocated for it. A project for supplying water from Tarbela Lake to Rawalpindi and Islamabad has also been included in the ADP for which Rs5 billion have been allocated in the budget.

For Murree Glass Train feasibility study, Rs135 million have been allocated and Rs250 million has been set aside for feasibility study of the Rawalpindi-Lahore high speed train.
