TAXILA: At least six people were killed and 30 others injured in five incidents in Attock and Taxila on Sunday, police and rescue sources said.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and 16 others injured when a passenger van rammed into a trailer after the driver of the van fell asleep on Hakla-D.I. Khan Motorway near Thathi Interchange in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased, both residents of Sheikhupura, were among the passengers traveling from Mianwali to Islamabad.

In another incident, two boys drowned in a mini dam in Dhoke Shukra near Dhurnal on Sunday.

The police and rescue sources said 10-year-old Mohammad Soban along with his friend Abdullah Safeer, 13, went to Noor Khan Dam for a swim. While bathing Soban went into deep water and started drowning. As Abdullah went to rescue him, he also lost his balance and both drowned. Later local volunteers along with Rescue 1122 divers retrieved the bodies and handed them over to their families.

Meanwhile, 14 people on board a Suzuki pickup were injured when a speeding mini truck crashed into the vehicle on Ikhlas-Bassal Road near Langrial in the limits of Pindigheb police station.

Meanwhile a woman was shot dead inside her house located in Wahdat Colony area a few yards away from Taxila police station while the body of a man was found along Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) near Hakla Motorway rest area.
