NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 10: A large number of growers held a protest demonstration in Detha village on Wednesday against blockade of watercourses after a bridge over Nather Detha Minor collapsed.

The growers whose lands get water from watercourses, 1R, 2R, 3R, 4R and 3R, led by Rashid Ahmed Detho, Ali Nawaz Memon, Safar Mari, Pathan Buriro and Shaman Ghanghro said the bridge collapse had stopped irrigation to about 9,000 acres of land.

They demanded the high-ups of irrigation department look into the matter and ensure restoration of water supply in time.

ONE KILLED: A cyclist was killed and 20 passengers injured when a Karachi-bound bus coming from Punjab overturned while trying in vain to save the cyclist near Bhirya on National Highway on Wednesday.

The cyclist Bahadur Solangi 18 was killed on the spot while 20 passengers including five women Naeema, Rizwana, Shahnaz, Varda and Khamnas received injuries.

The injured were admitted to Bhirya hospital.
