RAWALPINDI: More than 130,000 tourist vehicles entered Murree over the Eidul Azha holidays, with parking for 5,000 vehicles available, and more tourists are also continuing to arrive on the third day of Eid.

The CTO of Murree, Mughees Ahmed Hashmi, said on Monday that the city traffic police have been providing all possible facilities to tourists during the Eidul Azha holidays in Murree District. From the first day of Eid to the third day, more than 90,000 vehicles of tourists have entered Murree, he said. “Murree has a parking capacity for 5,000 vehicles,” CTO Hashmi said.

Following directive by the CTO, Mughees Ahmed Hashmi, Traffic Officer Sohail Shahzad and Azmat Hayat were present in the field and supervised all traffic arrangements. spokesperson for the City Traffic Police said.

The chief traffic officer said more than 250 traffic police personnel have been deployed in Murree to maintain the flow of traffic and facilitate tourists on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

Motorcycle riders without helmets were not being allowed to enter Murree, despite being a two-way and narrow road, traffic is flowing on all roads in Murree, said the CTO.

Due to a lack of parking, vehicles have been parked on a single side, the CTO said.

All highways in Murree are open for traffic, and traffic is moving smoothly. Awareness pamphlets are also being distributed among tourists for safe travel, said the CTO.

Tourists should follow traffic rules to make their journey safe and enjoyable, he said.

Tourist parking is allowed only in designated areas by the traffic police. Strictly adhere to driving lanes while driving in Murree, do not create double lanes under any circumstances, the CTO said.

Officers are continuously patrolling to eliminate no parking. Awareness is being provided about the traffic situation in Murree through official social media pages, the CTO said.

To ensure the safety of tourists, the driving licenses of drivers are being checked at entry and checking points of Murree. However, there had been a pressure of traffic on The Mall due to pedestrians.

On the first day of Eid-ul-Azha, more than 62,000 vehicles entered Murree, whereas 77,000 vehicles entered Murree in the two days of Eid.
