HYDERABAD: Awami Tehreek leaders have described Bhasha Dam and Dasu power projects as water terrorism and conspiracy against 70 million Sindhis.

AT president Vasand Thari, senior vice president Noor Katiar and secretary general Dr Rasool Bux Khaskheli said in a joint statement issued here on Wednesday that the projects were a direct attack on the existence of Sindh and it would not be tolerated in the name of war with India.

They said the budget for dams and canals, including Dasu power project and Bhasha dam, should be halted and Chashma-Jhelum (CJ) and Taunsa-Panjnad (TP) link canals must be abolished while natural flow of Indus river should be restored. They said emergency steps must be taken to protect Indus Delta. They stated that while Indus river was being occupied and lands were auctioned under corporate farming. By auctioning forest lands, they said, the PPP government was launching a colonial assault on Sindh.

They said that over 86,000 acres of forest land in Matiari and Jamshoro were being sold under public-private partnership. They alleged that every inch of Sindh was being sold to make Bilawal prime minister through backdoor.

They accused ‘Bilawal-Shahbaz governments’ of looting Sindh’s lands and resources like Mongol invaders, destroying Sindh.

They said seventh death anniversary of Rasool Bux Palijo would be observed in Jungshahi on June 21 against corporate farming, loot of resources, and construction of dams and canals.
