LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Friday said that at least three persons died and 25 others were injured in different incidents caused by windstorms and rains during the last three days in the province.

As per the PDMA, there are chances of rain and thunderstorms in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan divisions in the next 24 hours.

According to a report released by the PDMA, the deaths and injuries were caused by severe windstorms, rain, hail and lightning strikes in the province.

It says that in the weather-related incidents, two persons died after being struck by lightning in Mianwali and Attock district, while another died when a dilapidated building collapsed in Multan during rain and, windstorm. At least 25 others were reported injured in such incidents, the PDMA reports adds.

PDMA Director General (DG) Irfan Ali Kathia has ordered the provision of the best possible medical care to the injured persons.

He said that the families suffering losses of lives will be given financial assistance as per the government policy.

He also urged people to take precautionary measures during inclement weather.

The DG advised the people to stay in safe places and avoid unnecessary travel during windstorms, lightning and heavy rain.

The pre-monsoon rains are expected to continue in Punjab till May 31.
