BAHAWALPUR: Sixteen passengers suffered injuries in a bus accident on Bahawalpur-Khanewal highway at Jahania near Lodhran on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, the packed bus was on its way to Lahore from Sadiqabad when the driver allegedly lost control of the wheel due to speeding. As a result, the bus overturned.

Rescuers provided first-aid to six passengers on the spot, while 10 seriously injured were shifted to the THQ hospital Jahania for treatment. Rescuers used a crane to lift the overturned bus and called police for taking action against the reckless driver.

RAPE: A man allegedly raped a young barber at his house near Manjha Kotla Chowk in Dunapur in the limits of Saddar police station, Lodhran, on Sunday.

According to Lodhran police spokesman Khan Bahadur Khan, the victim’s father filed a complaint that the accused took the boy to his house on the pretext of cutting the hair of his child. He alleged that there he raped his son.

Police registered a case under section 376 of the PPC and claimed to have arrested the accused. The victim’s medical examination was being held, the police said.
