KARACHI: Law enforcers on Thursday claimed to have arrested three “militants” allegedly linked with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh and the Counter-Terrorism Department jointly carried out an action in Mehran Town of Korangi and arrested three “wanted terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij”, said a Rangers spokesperson. The term is used by the government and security forces to refer to the TTP and other extremist groups.
The suspects were identified as Naimatullah, alias Abid; Mohammed Noor, alias Mani and Sabirullah, alias Daniyal. Explosive material, weapons and ammunitions were recovered from them.
During the initial interrogation, it transpired that the suspects belonged to the banned outfit led by militants Roman Rais and Islamuddin. The suspects are highly trained, the official added.
They were sent to Karachi by their commanders for extortion, targeted killings and terrorist acts particularly targeting security forces, according to the press statement.
The suspect Naimatullah has ‘confessed’ that he was an ‘active member’ of the group led by Mufti Noor Wali in 2018. He got militancy training in the Barmal city of Afghanistan and had remained involved in several militancy activities in Waziristan.
He was arrested in 2019 and after being released, again arrested in 2021.
Later, he came to Karachi along with other members of the group to carry out terrorist acts.
Other suspects Noor Mohammed joined the group in 2022 and was sent to the metropolis by his commander Roman Rais for terror activities and extortion.
Third suspect Sabirullah joined the group led by Mufti Noor Wali in 2018 and used to make videos of the terror outfit for social media platforms.
