MARDAN: Dr Johanna D Chitlik of the School of Law in Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia visited Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan here on Wednesday.

She met with Vice-Chancellor Prof Jamil Ahmed. PTI Senator Zeeshan Khanzada Khan was also present on the occasion.

Mr Ahmed gave a briefing about the performance, research projects, and academic progress of the varsity.

Dr Chitlik said that such visits promoted international academic cooperation and were helpful in strengthening academic and research ties between the two institutions.

She met with the students of the department of law and delivered a lecture.

She emphasised the importance of communication skills, especially mediation, which she said was an effective and acceptable method for dispute settlement, which reduced the burden on courts and resolved disputes amicably.

Dr Chitlik said that mediation education and practical skills acquisition for students would play an important role in the future, as it can prove to be a valuable tool in professional life.

On this occasion, Dr Zubair, chairman department of law, also gave a detailed briefing on the three-year project ADR.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Jamil Ahmed presented commemorative shields to the American professor and Senator Zeeshan Khanzada. The American academician also planted a sapling on the lawns of the administration block.
