LAHORE/SAHIWAL: The Sherakot police lodged a criminal case against a former PML-N MPA from Pakpattan and his three associates for carrying illegal arms, ammunition and alcohol.
The incident occurred at Babu Sabu (Motorway) checkpost where the police stopped the vehicle of former MPA Rana Naveed Ali for routine checking and then questioned him on being confused.
During a search, the police recovered from the hidden parts of luxury vehicle two illegal 9mm pistols, ammunition and the bottles of liquor.
The police took into custody the three accomplices who were accompanying the former MPA.
The sources said that Naveed was occupying the driving seat at the time of the incident.
They said as he observed the police officials were not going to spare him despite introducing himself as a former MPA of the ruling party in Punjab, he drove away with his vehicle, leaving his three associates at the checkpoint.
He managed to flee via motorway. The Sherakot police later took them into custody.
The police said they were trying to trace and arrest the former MPA.
A case was lodged against Naveed and his three accomplices who were later identified as Waqar Ahmed (resident of Mochi Pura, Pakpattan), Rab Nawaz (Chak 223, tehsil Bhawana, district Chiniot), and Farhan Khaliq (resident of Mohalla Pir Karyain, Pakpattan).
The FIR was registered on the complaint of sub-inspector Nadeem under sections 289 and 186 of the PPC, along with sections 3 and 4 of The Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Ordinance – 1979and Section 13-2(a) of The Punjab Arms Ordinance – 1965.
