KOHAT: Four senior officers and 33 lower cadre officials of the Kohat prison have been transferred to Peshawar and Haripur jails after the inspector general of prisons held separate meetings with the inmates following the Friday’s hooliganism inside the facility here.

About 30 prisoners had been booked for torching property, which also included the record of the prison since its establishment, hair saloon, a kitchen, ration store, and looting of other items, prison officials said.

The senior officials, who were transferred, included the jail superintendent Abdul Bari, who has been posted to the head office, Peshawar, a deputy superintendent and two assistants, who were awaiting postings.
